two who?

“two buddhas in conversation” is the name of an ancient chinese bronze statue that i read about in a history book many years ago. i’ve looked for details about it, but have yet to find any.

the two buddhas here are darkness and light, words and empty space, a creative mind and a passive mind. someone said that music exists in the space between the notes, and the usefulness of a cup in the empty space within it. so too the space between the two buddhas. add to that the space between the time you spend reading my words, and the time you spend elsewhere. it is in the space between that the usefulness lives.

i am a writer and photographer who lives with my family in maine.  please feel free to contact me about writing, photography, or anything at all that comes to mind.

you can follow the pursuits of my mortal life on my other blog, one life

i once self-published a little book of little stories called “a man with a fish in his pocket.” i put some of them in a little bookstore, and never remembered to go back to see if they had sold. maybe somewhere out there someone is marveling at my vast talent, and wondering whatever became of me. sometimes i wonder that, too.

i’m not sure what will happen here. for now, i am going to indulge my own ego and post some writings of my own. if enough of you express interest, maybe i’ll open this up so you can post here too. and then we’ll publish a book, and do a world tour, and all make enough to retire and spend all of our time writing. let me know.

expect the unexpected. and vice versa.
